OCUC

The Observatorio de ciudades (OCUC) is a member of the Integrated Professional Management division (Outside Services) of the Department of Architecture, Design, and Urban Studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (FADEU UC).  It was created as one of the core projects of the Development Fund of the faculty and began operating in April of 2005.

The OCUC’s mission is to collect, sort, consolidate and organize into one body, territorial, norms, productive sectors, economic and social public information, produced both the university and in the national average, and generate new information. Thus generating a platform and consulting services in the area of Territorial Intelligence

In recent years, the Observatorio de Ciudades, has established itself in the provision of consulting services, becoming a multidisciplinary community of experts with high capacity for analysis and prospecting, powered by a integrated information system update, available on media TIC market oriented public, private, academic and civic organizations.

The organization serves as a reference (or third opinion) for both the government and private activity regarding urbanized land.

INSTITUTIONAL STRUCTURE

Through its interdisciplinary nature and its position on an interfaculty level, the OCUC considers the makeup of its board as one that includes distinguished academics and specialists representative of faculty whose fields are linked directly with the OCUC.  This Board will monitor the general guidelines and direction of the work of the OCUC, as well as direct and promote opportunities for investigation and university-wide studies.

ACADEMIC COMMITTEE

The OCUC, given that it is part of the FADEU UC, is linked with three constituent units of the Department of Architecture, the Institute of Urban Studies, and the School of Design, by means of an academic committee, which serves as the advising body of the of the head of the entire project, as well as the point of coordination for the activities of each one.
